Which cars work?

Cars with CarPlay that support video apps. Video plays only while you’re parked.

Which servers work?

Plex, Jellyfin and Emby. What you can stream away from home depends on your server and account, for example Plex’s remote streaming rules.

A title won’t play.

Some files need your server to convert them while they play. Check that your server allows transcoding and has the power to keep up, or pick a lower quality.

Do I need a server?

No. Websites and screen mirroring work without one.

How do I stay signed in to websites?

Sign in once, on the car screen or your iPhone, and SmarterPlay keeps you signed in. Sign Out of Websites in the app’s settings clears every site.

How do I mirror my iPhone?

Start it in SmarterPlay’s settings, or from Control Center while SmarterPlay is on the car screen. Apps with protected video, like most paid streaming services, can’t be mirrored.

How does the free time work?

Only playing time counts, up to 30 minutes a day. It resets at midnight.

How do I cancel SmarterPlay+?

Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions. It stays on until the end of the period you paid for. A one-time purchase has nothing to cancel.

I bought SmarterPlay+ on another iPhone.

Tap Restore Purchases in SmarterPlay’s settings, signed in with the same Apple Account.
